The English Department is pivotal to the college overall academic and intellectual development. The Department has a significant impact on the linguistic, literary, and communicative skills of students across disciplines. The department provides Part II English Foundation courses for undergraduate programs .

Our goal is to empower students with a comprehensive understanding of the English language and its cultural significance, fostering critical thinking, creativity, and effective communication skills. The department aspires to create an inclusive, dynamic, and intellectually stimulating environment where students develop a lifelong appreciation for literature, language, and global communication.

A Bridge Course for English is an educational program meant to assist students in transitioning from one level of language ability to the next. It is a preparation course that bridges the gaps between different stages of English language learning, allowing students to develop their language abilities and gain confidence in speaking English. This course is offered at the beginning of a new academic year, prior to pupils transitioning from secondary to higher education, or from one level of competency to another.
Linguaskill is an innovative, AI-powered English language assessment developed by Cambridge University Press & Assessment, designed to evaluate language proficiency accurately and efficiently. It tests candidates in key language skills—reading, listening, writing, and speaking—and delivers fast, reliable results aligned with the career perspectives.
